Copyright Registration Application in the PRC:

In China, it is adopted a voluntary copyright registration system. Chinese Copyright Protection Center (CPCC hereinafter) is authorized to accept copyright registration applications from overseas applicants and to conduct verification to the application documents. When the application is approved, the National Copyright Administration will issue copyright registration certificate which will be considered prima facie by the court in copyright dispute trial.

The basic documents that shall be submitted to the CCPC in support of an application for copyright registration are listed as follows:

1) Power of Attorney duly signed by the applicant,
2) duly sealed or signed Works for Voluntary Registration Ownership Statement,
3) respective identification of the author and the applicant (eg. a copy of first page of
passport of an individual or a copy of business certificate of a company),
4) Application Form for Copyright Registration,
5) evidence proving the ownership in the copyrighted works (e.g. copies of the first page)
or copyright page of the work or photocopies of the manuscript of the work
6) sample of the work,
7) An Introduction to the Work

For filling in the above mentioned Application Form for Copyright Registration, we need the following information:

1) available Chinese or English name of the works,
2) date on the completion of the works,
4) date and place on which the work was firstly published if the works had been
published,
4) detailed information about the license, if there is a license contract in connection with the work
5) type of the work,
6) name of the first publishing entity,
7) place where the work was first published, and
8) detailed information of the author, the copyright owner and the applicant.

After all the related application documents and materials are submitted to the CCPC, a Notification of Acceptance will be issued. If everything is found being in conformity with the regulation in the formal verification, i.e., the submitted materials and documents are complete, authentic and valid, the registration application will be approved.
The official fee for one application for copyright registration is 800RMB, our attorney fee for filing one application is 320USD plus disbursement and other charges for the expenses incurred during the verification.
