On the afternoon of April 17, Liu Shen jointly hosted the IP Protection Themed Day Event with the German Chamber of Commerce in China. Aimed at helping German enterprises effectively address IP-related risks in China, the event targeted core pain points in intellectual property protection for German-invested enterprises and their affiliates. Through policy interpretation, practical experience sharing and case studies, it helped such entities build robust IP protection barriers to support their innovative development in the Chinese market.

Partner ZHANG Jianfeng served as the event moderator and delivered the opening presentation entitled Overview and Strategies for Patent Protection of German Enterprises in China. Supported by detailed statistical data on invention patents filed by German companies in China, he comprehensively analyzed filing trends, shifts in technical focus and core characteristics of patents involved in invalidation proceedings, and summarized inherent strengths and potential risks featured in German enterprises’ patent deployment practices.
Based on data-driven insights, he put forward systematic patent protection strategies covering four major dimensions: localized patent layout, administrative patent protection, patent infringement litigation as well as licensing and negotiation, assisting relevant enterprises in establishing a full-spectrum patent management system integrating layout formulation, right enforcement and commercial operation.

Partner ZHENG Peng gave a speech themed Latest Developments in Judicial Practice on Trade Marks with Adverse Effects in China. He elaborated on the judging logic and practical scope of the "adverse effect" criterion in trademark practice. By citing typical precedents, he sorted out its specific application scenarios in trademark examination, unfair competition disputes and administrative law enforcement, and distinguished divergent judgment criteria and adjudication approaches across different scenarios.
In response to prevailing trademark compliance challenges faced by enterprises, Mr. Zheng offered targeted risk prevention advice and delivered clear practical guidelines covering trademark registration, brand operation and dispute resolution, enabling German companies to steer clear of legal risks arising from trademarks deemed to have adverse effects.

Partner WANG Xiao shared insights on Difficulties in On-site Inspection in Patent Infringement Cases: Judicial Logic and Practical Countermeasures. He analyzed the root causes of such difficulties and illustrated various common scenarios encountered in judicial practice via abundant real-world cases.
By integrating statutory provisions with judicial practices, Mr. Wang sorted out core adjudication rationales and proposed diversified solutions, providing actionable approaches for enterprises to move forward with patent infringement litigations and secure key evidence effectively.
Following the themed sessions, participating representatives from German enterprises raised questions actively based on actual IP-related difficulties encountered in daily operations. The three attorneys provided detailed, professional and workable solutions on-site amid enthusiastic and efficient interactive discussions.
The event won high recognition and favorable comments from the German Chamber of Commerce and all participating enterprises, and successfully built a solid professional communication bridge between German-invested enterprises and Liu Shen & Associates. During the activity, Liu Shen practitioners gained in-depth understanding of practical IP challenges faced by enterprises, further consolidated service capabilities, broadened professional horizons and strengthened close ties with corporate clients.
