On 28 August, the China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA) officially released the award decisions for the 26th China Patent Awards. The invention patent “Polypeptide, Its Production Method and Use” (Patent No. ZL201811438582.6), prosecuted by Liu Shen for Shanxi Jinbo Bio pharmaceutical Co., Ltd., stood out among millions of in force patents in the joint selection process conducted by CNIPA and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), and was awarded the Gold Medal of the 26th China Patent Awards.
The patented technology covers the atomic structure analysis of the core functional domain of recombinant humanized type III collagen as well as its industrial scale manufacturing process. It addresses key technical bottlenecks including immunogenicity of conventional collagen and toxicity from cross linking agents, and enables large scale production of macromolecular recombinant humanized collagen with stable triple helix conformation. Series products built upon this patent technology have seen cumulative deployment of over 4 million units across medical aesthetics, gynecological repair, cardiovascular treatment and other sectors. No immunogenic related adverse events have been reported in clinical application, demonstrating outstanding technical advancement and substantial industrial translation value.
Jointly organized by CNIPA and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), the China Patent Awards represent the highest level honor for patents in China. Candidates are comprehensively evaluated against four dimensions: patent quality, technical advancement, implementation and protection performance, social benefits and future development prospects. Only 30 invention patents received the Gold Medal in this edition. This accolade constitutes authoritative recognition of Jinbo Bio pharmaceutical’s original innovation capacity, and also highlights Liu Shen’s professional strength in cultivating and drafting high value patents within the life science and biopharmaceutical sector.
